About - Luke Everitt
I grew up in a small village called Irchester, located in Northamptonshire. My partner and I just moved into our first home after purchasing a new house in 2023. I attended Irchester Primary School and furthered my education at Wollaston Secondary School. After finishing school, I turned my part-time job at Iceland supermarkets into a full-time job.
After this, I worked at a company that built mobile homes. Being stuck inside all day and not being inspired by the work led me to look for a job that I could be passionate about and build a career around. This is how I found the TEAM AnyPond. After coming to the water feature gardens and seeing POND College, I was inspired. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to travel to America with the rest of the team for work and work with our vendors. I have become increasingly inspired by the impact that water features can have in any area, regardless of its shape or size.
In 2022, I was the newest member of the TEAM AnyPond, but everyone has been brilliant in showing me the ropes and making me feel like part of the team from the very first day. I have always had a passion for water systems and aquatic life, as I have grown up being a keen angler and have had a tropical fish tank for as long as I remember. I also have fond memories of helping my grandad maintain and clean his pond. Therefore this role within TEAM AnyPond has been perfect for me.
The connection with water in any part of nature gives me a tremendous euphoric feeling, so my goal in the industry is to help people spend more quality time with their loved ones in their gardens since that time is proven to make people happy!
About - Charlotte - Owner/CFO
As the wife of Mark Wilson, The Pond Advisor, I’ve been part of Team AnyPond full-time since 2019. However, I’ve been in the background since Mark started in 2003.
Go back to the beginning. I grew up in West Sussex, where I spent the first 20 years. After leaving school, I went to an agricultural college and wanted to take the line of farm manager or a farming tutor at college. After completing my diploma course, my tutors told me to go out and get some experience on a farm to get a taste of farming life.
This took me away from my home in West Sussex to Kent, where I worked on a dairy farm milking 300 cows twice a day, six days a week and having one weekend off every three weeks. I was in this job for two years before I suffered an injury that prevented me from this life.
I spent six months convalescing; I had to rethink my future. In the meantime, I needed to find an income while I figured this next part out. This is where I first met Mark. I found a seasonal job at a water plant nursery in Surrey, where I could sit and play with water plants. I ended up staying there permanently for four years. Fast forward a few years, Mark and I decided we were going to buy a house together. We moved to Northamptonshire in 2003. I had to find a job. As luck would have it, I found a temporary position in a local Boots pharmacy store where I would go from a temporary sales assistant to qualifying as a dispenser and then to an assistant manager. I was with Boots for 15 years. It was time for a change.
Any Pond needed help; we had just taken on the role of UK and European distributor for Aquascapes. Who better to fill that position than me? I left Boots and joined Any Pond, and I’ve not looked back. It was the best decision I’ve ever made (apart from marrying Mark).
With its challenges of taking on an entirely new business (to me) of ponds and water features and all that comes with them, it’s been a vertical line of learning; I’m still learning and taking on new challenges regularly growing our business. Hand on heart, I can say I love my job. I’m now the Dispatch and the warehouses; I’ve taken on HR and have a fantastic team to work with.
Another win for me is our dog Luna comes to work with us.
